New flower essences for animals

One of the biggest hassles new puppy and kitten owners have is their furry little friend's chewing. Babies of all species (especially dogs and cats) learn by putting things into their mouths -- whether it's something they are "supposed" to have or not.

Now -- at last -- we have a new flower essence formula to help! It's called Chewster -- for those little ones who are getting their teeth into too many things that aren't good for them. This formula calms the chewing urge -- and helps them find things to chew that ARE appropriate. (Hint: have plenty of "safe" chewies around to give them -- such as frozen wash cloths -- when they are teething.)

Until they get past this phase, you'll be safer with Chewster in the house. Put the drops into their water bowl with fresh water several times a day -- and relax. But be sure to lock up your favorite shoes just in case! Not even flower essences are going to keep them from wanting to chew something -- teething puppies and kittens need to chew, to help their adult teeth come in; so make sure you give them their Chewster flower essences to reduce the cravings, and give them something safe to keep their mouths busy during the teething months.

When an animal has been rescued from a shelter or breed rescue organization, it's not always possible to learn what their previous experience has been with humans. Were they a pet in a good home, where they were fed, sheltered, and trained well? Or were they chained out in a yard and given food and water only when someone remembered to do it? Have they been abused or mistreated?

Often the only way to tell is by watching the animal's behavior. Does it seem frightened and timid? Eager and connected? Angry and hostile? How it acts toward humans now, gives some indication of the nature of its previous experiences, whether they were known specifically or not.

Any animal that is being adopted into a new home and environment will need to go through a period of adjustment. What are the "house rules"? Who lives there already? Kids or other animals? What will be expected - and hoped - of this new animal? All these are going to be much easier to navigate if you have some help. That's where flower essences come in!

Because I have been getting so many calls lately from people who are adopting animals from various situations (and if you are the new adoptive family for such an animal, THANK YOU!!) - I have made two new formulas. One is for adopted or rescued animals, and another for animals that have been rescued from puppy or kitty mills as breeding stock. (These animals need special attention, and I will make a separate post about this soon.)

Animals that have come from (or been used as breeders in) puppy or kitty mills need some special care. They have not had the experience of being inside a home, and most of the time what they have learned of humans is that they are not to be trusted and may cause pain, harm or abuse.

For these animals who have been taken from their crates or cages (yes, most of them have spent their entire lives inside cages. . . ) the sudden changes can create panic attacks. While their environment was not friendly, at least they knew pretty much what to expect.

The flowers we chose for this formula will help your rescued dog or cat in the following ways:

Your calm, kind, systematic approach to rehabilitating your rescued puppy or kitty mill critter will be the other part of the equation. They need consistent, clear guidelines about what's going on, what the new "rules" are, and most of all to learn that you are someone they CAN trust to see to their well-being.

The flowers do the inner work for you; you need to do the day-to-day stuff that gives them the structure they need to learn what their new lives are going to be like -- and start to enjoy themselves at last.

Many of these animals have never learned how to play. That's very sad, but in some cases they can learn. If they don't, don't give up on them. Just make opportunities available and be ready if they seem to respond. And love them if they don't!
